DIET DURING LOW PLATLET COUNT

THIS ARTICLE IS POSTED NOT FOR EARNING PROFITS BUT TO HELP SOMEBODY WHO IS OR WHOSE FAMILY IS SUFFERING FROM - LOW PLATELET COUNT
(THE FAMILY OF THE AUTHOR OF THIS BLOG IS SUFFERING FROM - LOW PLATELET COUNT)

  1. Maximize the value of each bite. Eat food from as close to the source as possible and as soon as possible. Avoid canned and frozen foods and leftovers. The nutritional value of food deteriorates with time. A wide variety of food assures your body gets the variety of nutrients it needs.
  2. Eat whole grain cereals, brown rice, and whole wheat products. Reduce the amount of white flour, white rice and processed foods. Processed grains are stripped of their natural nutrient-rich coating.
  3. Eat un-sprayed foods grown using natural fertilizers. Some pesticides and herbicides have been shown to exacerbate autoimmune diseases and lower platelets. Additives and preservatives can increase the disease-causing free radicals in your body.
  4. Reduce the amount of white refined sugar as well as fructose, corn syrup, honey and other sweeteners. Limit fruit and fruit juice. Sugar contributes to an acidic disease-promoting body condition.
  5. Reduce or eliminate milk, cheese, ice cream, and yogurt from your diet based on your reaction to these foods and other dietary needs. Dairy foods have been shown to contribute to mucus formation and exacerbate some autoimmune diseases.
  6. Use cold pressed oils such as olive or canola in cooking and baking. Avoid hydrogenated, partially hydrogenated or trans-fats. These contribute to free radical damage. Reduce the amount of deep fried food which also adds to the free radical load.
  7. Eat as many leafy greens as possible, especially kale and collards. Add sea vegetables (sea weed) to your diet. These choices contain large amounts of calcium, minerals, and vitamin K to help clotting.
  8. Rely on lean, white fish, whole grains and beans and some nuts for protein. Meat is often laced with residual antibiotics, hormones, and saturated fat.
  9. Avoid alcoholic beverages which can damage bone marrow. Reduce the amount of blueberries, red/purple grape products, garlic, onions, ginger, ginseng, and tomatoes. These foods can interfere with blood clotting. Avoid food and drinks containing quinine. These can lower platelets.
  10. Many people have delayed food allergies that produce vague and difficult-to-diagnose symptoms. If you don’t feel well, consider having a food allergy test.
  11. Chewing each bite until it is liquid can aid digestion, aid the passage of nutrients into your blood stream, and promotes healthy alkaline blood chemistry.
  12. Drink plenty of filtered or bottled water at room temperature or above. Taking periodic sips of hot water can cleanse impurities from the body. Ice water can slow and hinder the digestive process. Tap water may contain small amounts of chemicals that are harmful.
DO’S AND DONT’S :
  • Avoid activities that can cause physical injury and protect yourself from harm.
  • Use a clean electric razor rather than a straight or twin bald safety razor.
  • Do not let anyone give you a needle unless your cancer doctor has said it is okay.
  • Do not wear clothes that are tight. Avoid harsh or coarse fabrics.
  • Avoid blowing your nose. If absolutely necessary, do so gently keeping both nostrils open.
  • Take necessary actions to keep your bowel movements soft, through diet or by medications, and do not push during a bowel movement.
  • Bend at the knees and not the waist to pick items up.
  • If you need to move yourself up in bed, do so by inching your bottom upward along the bed, not by pushing with both arms on the bed to lift your bottom up.
  • Check with your doctor before taking any medications (especially those containing aspirin).
  • Consult your physician for any sexual activity restrictions.
  • Use lubricant during sexual intercourse
  • Women: use napkins not tampons, and do not douche
  • DO NOT give yourself enemas or suppositories.
  • Keep nails short and smooth. Trim nails carefully to avoid cuts.
  • Do mouth care frequently, carefully, yet thoroughly
  • Use deodorant rather than antiperspirant
  • After a bowel movement, clean rectal area thoroughly.
  • Do not use dental floss.
BEST DIET SUGGESTION:
  • You should eat high protein, high calorie food.
  • Choose soft, non-spicy foods.
  • Eat well balanced meals. Dietitians are available to assist you in planning.
  • Drink 2-3 litres (8-12 glasses) of liquid a day unless you have a heart or kidney problem.
  • DO NOT use straws unless truly necessary. They can be irritating to the inside of the mouth and tongue.
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IF:
  • You bleed anywhere for more than 5 minutes.
  • You notice blood in your vomit, urine, sputum or bowel movements.
  • The blood in a bowel movement is red, black or tarry colored and is new.
  • You develop a rash, spots or an increase in bruising.

Ramayan by Ramanand Sagar

Overview :

Ramayan is a highly successful Indian television series created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The 78-episode series originally aired weekly on Doordarshan from January 25, 1987, to July 31, 1988, on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. IST.

During its original broadcast, Ramayan was enormously popular, drawing over 100 million viewers. Its popularity reached a point where the entire nation of India “came to a virtual stop as nearly everyone who could gain access to a television stopped what they were doing to watch the televised adventures of Rama.” In a phenomenon that the newsmagazine India Today dubbed “Ramayan fever,” religious services (Hindu and non-Hindu) were rescheduled to accommodate the show’s broadcast; trains, buses, and inner-city trucks stopped running when the show was on; and, in villages, hundreds of people would gather around a single television set to watch the show.
